The basics

Vibes Consulting provides mystery shopping and customer-experience audits exclusively for businesses in Santa Cruz County, California.

We visit your business as an ordinary customer, pay attention to everything, and deliver a plain-language scorecard within 48 hours showing where the experience matched your standard and where it drifted.

Owner-operated, customer-facing businesses in Santa Cruz County: cafés, restaurants, surf and bike shops, salons, wellness studios, boutiques, taprooms, and hotels.

If customers walk through your door and you care what happens next, we can help. We only work in Santa Cruz County.

Because local knowledge is the product. A national outfit doesn't know the difference between a Westside Tuesday and a 41st Avenue Saturday, or what the summer rush does to a Capitola Village shop.

We work this county — Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Soquel, Scotts Valley, Felton, Watsonville, Davenport, Live Oak, Pleasure Point — and the read you get back reflects the place, not a template.

No. We arrive the way any customer does, on an ordinary day, and behave like one. You'll agree to a visit window with us, but you won't know the exact day either — that's the point.

The scorecard describes what happened, not who to blame. Most owners share the read with their team as a coaching tool, and we can talk through how to do that without crushing morale.

02 Pricing

What it costs

Engagements typically start at $450. A Vibe Check is a fixed, one-time fee quoted for your business — a coffee shop visit and a tasting-menu dinner are different jobs, so we price them differently.

The quote covers the visit, the scorecard within 48 hours, and a 15-minute debrief. No retainer, no subscription required.

Book a short intro call and you'll have a number before it ends.

No. A single Vibe Check is a complete engagement: one visit, one scorecard, one debrief.

If you want to track the experience over time, the Ongoing Partnership adds monthly visits with trend reporting — but it's optional, and most clients start with one visit.

Every Vibe Check includes:

  • A scorecard customized to your standards before we visit
  • The anonymous visit itself, timed to a window you approve
  • A written read within 48 hours: what's working, what's drifting, and the two fixes to make first
  • A 15-minute debrief call to walk through it

No 40-page deck. No jargon. Just what you need to know, and what to do about it.

03 Process

How it runs

First we talk for 15 minutes about your standards — what a great visit to your business is supposed to feel like. We agree on a visit window; you never know the exact day.

Then we visit as a regular customer, on an ordinary day. Within 48 hours you get the scorecard, followed by a 15-minute debrief.

One page, plain language. The arrival, the greeting, the pace, the product, the environment, the exit — specific moments named with the time they happened.

It leads with what's working, names where the experience drifted from your standard, and ends with the two fixes we'd make first.

The scorecard lands within 48 hours of the visit, and the debrief is scheduled with delivery. You're never left wondering what we found.

Book a short intro call. We'll talk about your business, the standard you're worried about, and which visit makes sense. You'll have a price before the call ends.

No pressure, no sales pitch — if we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

What we actually do

A Vibe Check is the in-person mystery shop: the visit, the scorecard, the debrief.

The Full Picture adds a Digital Presence Review — your website, Google listing, reviews, and social — so you see the complete distance between what your business says it is online and what walking in actually feels like.

Yes. The Ongoing Partnership is monthly visits with trend reporting over time, so you always know where you stand — especially useful across the seasonal swing from summer crowds to the quiet winter months.

Most owners take the read and act on it themselves — it's written to be acted on.

When a visit uncovers deeper operational issues, we offer larger consulting engagements (business flow, safe AI adoption, culture). But those only ever follow an audit; the visit comes first. See all services.

No. We only work in Santa Cruz County: Santa Cruz, Capitola, Aptos, Soquel, Scotts Valley, Felton, Watsonville, Davenport, Live Oak, and Pleasure Point.

Knowing this county is the whole point — it's what makes the read accurate.
